The National Association of REALTORS has changed membership requirements. You need to complete the required Code of Ethics training by December 31, 2018.
In the past, you had to take a Code of Ethic training course every four years to maintain your membership. Your license renewal course met this, so you did not have to do anything to meet the requirement. There are no exemptions for this requirement, except National Association REALTOR Emeritus members.
That has now changed to being required every two years. The current cycle runs from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018.
Options for fulfilling the requirement:
- If you complete the license renewal course through C.A.R. with the FREE 45-hour course by December 31, 2018, you will meet the requirement. Send your course completion certificate to NorBAR. Email Michael@NorthBayRealtors.org.
- Take the free code of ethics course through the National Association of REALTORS. Click here to access the course. Choose the Non-CE version. You may need to register on the site. Your membership record will be updated.
- If you take the course through another vendor, send your course completion certificate to NorBAR. Email: Michael@NorthBayRealtors.org.
Wondering if you completed it?
You can always check on the NorBAR Member portal. Once you log in, the box in the upper left hand corner under your name will note COE complete with a yes or no.
What happens if I don't take the course?
Failure to complete the required periodic ethics training shall be considered a violation of a membership duty.
Failure to meet the requirement will result in suspension of membership for the first two months (January and February) of the year following the end of any two (2) year cycle or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1 of that year, the membership of a member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated.
